The Human Menagerie is one of the most venerable concepts in the history of art. It includes sphinxes, centaurs, fauns, minotaurs, harpies, angels, demons, mermaids, and the many human/animal deities of humanity's most ancient religious and mythical traditions. The representational container, from the canopic jar to the cookie jar, is a time honored standard of functional art.

Your can give these ideas a fresh, bright interpretation. You can combine human and animal imagery in your own original and individual ways. We look forward to hearing from you, and to seeing your beautiful work. Shown below on this blog are examples of Humenagerie from past shows. Some are credited and some are not; for this I apologize. However, all are beautiful. We hope these images inspire you to create, and to enter your creations in Humenagerie 2012.
